BARR ANAL RETRACTOR
Barr Anal Retractor is a hinged forceps like instrument that is used to spread apart the anus to visualize the rectal mucosa during rectal exam and during surgeries including anal tear repairs, rectal polypectomy and rectal biopsy. The surgeon lubes the anal opening and gently inserts the 70 by 22 mm blades inside the anal canal. The finger rings are then used to spread open the anus, which is then fixed using a screw mechanism. The overall length of the instrument is 17 cm.
